Re: Hendrickson

Those OEM specs are exactly what we are trying to find. At present the truck is equipped with a 6v Delco generator with an obviously non-original regulator. There is no telling to what extent the charging system has been changed or modified since manufacture, but the goal is to restore to original, ...

Hendrickson

A fellow electrical rebuilder is having problems getting reliable information about the charging system on a 1936 Hendrickson. Is anyone here acquainted with someone or a group that would be well versed in Hendrickson?
Thanks,
Alan

Happy Birthday Brian. If someone had told me a little sooner I could have played you a Brockway song over the air.

Re: American Pickers last night

Too bad that they didn't at least get some really clear shots of the Brockway and the A-car!

Re: Looking for information

Stan-
Is Mack Boring still in business in New Jersey? At one time they were a leading Continental distributor and were good at supplying information and advise. I'm thinking a long way back, though!

Re: Electrical problems

The parallel switch has always been a problem in heavy duty applications. They are subject to frequent failures. Brockway usually had them enclosed in a box, but I'm not sure that the boxes helped a lot. It has more to do with inadequate current burning the internal contacts. The switches are easily...

Re: Trailers: Sliding Axle --Versus-- Hydraulic Tail

I can't address the competitive nature the two trailer designs, but I would remind you that a 4104 is a lot shorter than almost every bus in service today.
Good luck,

Re: Ebay finds.

Mike- Thanks for pointing out the LPs on ebay, and thanks to Ernie Lyons for reminding me also. You're right, the price is up there, but they are also quite unique. I had thought that the Tex Roe album was the only one that had ever featured a Brockway (and it still is, to the best of my knowledge, ...

Re: Brockway Pic of the Week 2-17-14

I had forgotten about about the various methods that were employed to obtain extra fuel capacities during that time. All kinds of tanks could be seen behind tractor cabs, both COE and conventionals, but of course you pretty much had to use a cabover running coast to coast because of the length restr...
