I am getting down to the wire getting my 155W done for Cortland. Since I am not done with the front sheet metal, and antique tags in PA take at least 8 weeks (submitted with finished pics), I had to get a regular tag today. I registered the truck for 10,000 lbs.

So if all goes well and I can make it to Cortland, do I need any fuel sticker or anything like that for the state of New York???

Thanks,

Tom

Tom, I'm not sure you'll get much traffic as an "Off Topic" query. Everyone wants that truck in Cortland, so I'd post it to the Brockway discussion for more participation. I'm just pleased you hope to get it there!

Tom, Are you running regular antique/historic PA plates? I have one of my 361's on historic NY plates and you don't have to have any fuel or HUT stickers. They do want a name on the door and a USDOT # for anything over 10,000lbs. As far as I know, if you have commercial plates you need an IFTA sticker to go out of your home state. Put a plate on it and drive it. I think the cops and dot will understand.

Hi Dane...

Thanks for the reply. I am running a regular tag since PA takes at least 8 weeks to get an antique or classic tag. The truck is registered for 10,000 lbs exactly. I already emailed NY DOT and they said it was a DMV issue. I am going to carry along copies of the emails just in case...

Tom

Hey Tom
Try to contact the NYS State Police, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
These are the men who are actually conducting the inspections along the road. 99% of them are good guys and will give you a straight answer.
Probably the only place you might get in trouble would be the Rest Area/ Scale at the PA-NY line if it were to be open on Thurs or Fri on your way up. Havn't run up that way in quite a while, but they should be closed on Sunday coming home. You can always run old RT 11 for that short strech and bypass them!!!!
Once you get the Historic/Antique tags you will not need the IFTA sticker. I have heard that some states like the words " Historic Vehicle Not for Hire" across the bottom of the door.
Good luck
Brocky
