Big. Parts engine. Missing alot of parts. Weight is 17 ton. Next on to move is all together is over 20 ton.

Think the owner said 500 hp at 375 rpm. Versions from ww2 doubled in hp and rpm. This is from 1935

Piston from a old generator at the sugar house in Yonkers NY. Was a Fairbanks Morse old submarine engine. 10 cylinder opposed pistons, 2 pistons per cylinder crankshafts upper and lower, Picture is with wrist pin , piston was a floating piston allowed to rotate in the bore

All moved back. Had crane problems but all went well . This one was 26 ton.

Engines of that size are started with compressed air let into the cylinders through a special valve in the heads. Once the engine is rolling, then the fuel is turned on. As soon as the engine begins to fire, the compressed air is shut off and normal operation occurs. This is very effective due to the additional heat the compressed air generates under compression.
