Had to be one of us...

Postby crashcrawford » Sun Oct 11, 2015 9:37 am

Tuesday night, at eastern Owego NY Exit, Route 17(I86), as I was taking the exit, a Western Star Tractor passed me. I believe it was green but not sure. Anyhow, I've been going thru a rough patch, and haven't been my usual happy, bubbly self. BUTT When I noticed this newer Western Star tractor with BROCKWAY mudflaps... well I smiled, giggled a little, and all was normal. Even if things are still on their way back up to normal, happy-go-lucky times.

Whoever you are, Thank You!

Chad,

You are correct, the metalic green Western Star is connected in a round-about way.

The driver is a owner operator, Brockway Trucking...his last name is Brockway.

He came into Tracey Road Equipment to buy some parts last summer. I just happened to be coming in the front door and walked by our parts counter, one our guys yells to me " Hey Stretch, here is a real Brockway." So I walked over to the guy and we got to talking.

I told him about the museum and the August show and said he should stop by sometime and check it out.
He said it would be cool if he could get some old Brockway emblems to replace the Western Star ones on the side of his hood.
I also mentioned I had just got some mudflaps from Dane Baldwin.

Well.... he was all over that, so I asked if he was coming back to Syracuse anytime soon, but he wasn't sure. I told him I would put a set in my office and to let our parts guys know, to get them if he were to come back.
He did come back, left me a envelope and got the flaps. Don't know if he picked up the emblems yet.

GREAT TO HEAR HE PUT THEM ON!!!

He was pretty excited to get them, and I get busted on from time to time for selling Brockway parts at the Freightliner / Western Star dealer.

Glad they made your day...it made mine to find out that they are on his truck.

If you click on photo and blow up top of sleeper you will see the brockway name.

He brought his truck into our Albany yard last week.
One our techs know I'm into Brockways so he sent the photo.

Keep spreading the joy!!!

I took a pic of it on my way home from Cobleskill a couple weeks ago. I noticed the mudflaps first then the lettering.
