Was out in The Finger Lakes Region, on tour with Screaming DD looking at Brockways, and he showed me this Long Nose 257 belonging to a local farmer. It was lenghtened to fit a larger Cummins.

This one, as Kyle said, is actually a 260, because of the heavy duty chassis.

Neat! Must have had a continental with no diesel emblems.

John ----On one of the many roads I've taken between Penn Yan and Geneva over the years , I remember a Brockway 2 axle tractor setting on a farm on a county road . One of these days I'll have to see what's left of it .

Jeff they were both town trucks, and yes both had continentals. The red w/ black fenders has a 220 cummins w/5x4. A lot of townships replaced with Cummins and you can see the CHEATER way they did it and why you'll know they are Cummins. They added to the front of the frame and then inserted an extra nose piece to fill in the gap (by cutting out the front of the shell). Now the second pic (Orange one which is a 260) is my very first Brockway I owned. I bought that from the same township that Joe D's (Quadbox) 361 came from(Town of Covert) in the early 80's. That was repowered by a 6-71( continental 427 cu.in. vs. 6-71 426 cu.in.) with N70 injectors w/ 5x3 double over. Tom posted a pic he got from Dave M.(Bigbogz) as a pic of the week (3-13-11) when the truck was fairly new. I had sold the truck to a friend of mine who i was in business with, he ran about a year replaced the 5 over with a RTOO-9513. The following year he bought a new Tri-axle IH and sold The Brockway to Seneca Stone ( a division of Dalrymple) as a haul truck in the quarry. It was then purchased By a man from Seneca Falls for the RTOO-9513 for one of his dump trucks. He passed away shortly after from cancer and everything he owned was left @ his dad's, who just passed away this spring. Now the surviving son has everything. Now for you Dan, I think the S/A you saw maybe on Pre-emption rd. He also has a 361 there too. He sells septic tanks and tile. Alot of people know about those trucks. Niether one has moved in over 30yrs.

Yep, lots of people know about the two trucks on Pre-Emption Rd. The 361 is an F and was a originally an SC Hansen truck located in Horseheads NY and serviced by the Elmira branch. I overhauled the 1674 Cat many years ago. Broke a bolt off in the power steering pump mount and spent a couple hours drilling it out. It pulled Hansen's lowboy. They were a Case equipment dealer. The 358 is an ex-Penn Yan Express tractor with 230 Cummins. Both trucks are just dissolved from rust. You could drop a basketball thru the floor on the 358 ten years ago and he wanted $3200 for it. That's why they're still there!

Thanks, Jeff. I know that most everyone on here would understand that DIESEL THING. I can't say they'd agree with the Detroit label, though

Kyle-I can't believe you haven't rescued your old truck yet! Stan-we bought our case 850c from sc hansen in the 80's, don't have any pics but maybe it was delivered by the 361,appalachin(sp?) branch though.

The Hansen Brockway did deliveries from all their locations if I remember right, because it was not always here in Horseheads at night.
