I am experiencing 700 wiper motor failures. Has anybody taken one apart with any success. Talked to "Team Millard" about a possible electric conversion?

Brian...

I scoured the Internet high and low trying to find an electric conversion for the 761. I am guessing an R model Mack is the same. I did find this link but it's from a guy down under.

http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php? ... n-r-model/

Watts wants $725 for their kit but in sure we can do it for significantly less.

Tom

Brian I agree with Tom $$$ for electric. I will put air to the one on 87126 I got today and let you know how it works. Being a big fan of your triaxel I will part with it if it works well Paul

You may find that an electrical rebuilding shop will be able to help with all kinds of DC motors, including wiper motors.
Best regards,
Alan

Brian - Trico air motors can be rebuilt. There are services listed in Hemmings Motor News. There is very little to go wrong internally in an air powered wiper motor. Make sure that your wiper air control valve is in good condition, if it is leaking air out of the "park" line while in the run position, the wiper motor will not run. The two air lines can't have air at the same time. Also on the exhaust side of the motor is a small muffler to quiet the exhaust. Remove it and try the motor. Frequently the muffler gets plugged with oil and gunk and will stop the flow of air, slowing or stopping the motor. Last thing to check is how much air pressure is available to the motor. Supply is on regulated cab air and should be around 80 psi. If the regulator is bad and pressure has dropped replace it. The wiper system is pretty simple, but the motor relies on many other things being right to work correctly.

Thanks Stan- i got a new wiper control valve and will try that first.I am going to try the things you talked about. It seems like I am not getting enough air. Thanks for the offers Paul and GG2, but let me rule out the other things. I think a electric conversion would be the best if someone can come up with a reasonable scenario, get to work AJ.
