Makes me chuckle as I think back to my childhood in the early 60's and there was certain contractor who did much of the contract plowing in my town, Watertown MA. They had a bunch of B-model six wheelers and as the storms would wind down, you could hear them driving up down the streets. Funny thing was, you could hear the old Thermodyne's and tire chains but no scraping noises. That would go on for several hours until finally put the blades down and clean the streets before heading back to the barn to take the blades off for snow removal duties.

That's a really neat picture and at least 1959 as there's a 59 Fairlane behind the Brockway. It's an efficient use of vehicles as well (Garbage Trucks with blades), at least for cities that don't get many snow storms. It's a common practice down here.
