A "fan" sent me an email: These are the cabs for the NY State DOT trucks. Len Abarelli of the Rensselar, NY Branch was responsible for this sale. They were N776 models.

There are some great groups that support our favorite brand...Brockway. Some neat stuff out on the net...let's bring that information home as well.

I'm not sure that these cabs are for N776s, that model has a small dog house. Also these cabs have grommets in the rear under the window, the 700s had the tractor protection valve mounted in the cab. They maybe headed for Fla, those last 45 trucks were yellow.

Well, being that we were having this conversation on the facebook page, I figured I'd post it here as well in case I have got my information screwed up.

I always understood that the scheller globe cabs which Mack and Brockway both used, had the same Sheet metal. Rockers, doors etc. The Brockway cabs had a different firewall, cowl, roof, and door braces. That was the extent of the differences correct?

Early cab more closely resembles an early (late '60's) R model. Very last part of '77 production used the Plus 3 cab, similar to R model of the time. There is a small difference under the bottom of the cowl on the Mack to provide clearance for the round bar style front cab mount.

I thought one of the Brockcasters had a pic of one of the trucks that went to Iran. I don't have access to my copies to verify, but I wonder if the Iran trucks had amber beacon lights on the roof. Would the microfiche tell us?

Microfiche might have the info, we will need a serial from the run of Iran trucks. Anybody know those numbers? Most of the add on stuff like that never made the build sheets though.

Dave noted th grommets on the rear of the cab for the tractor protection valve. If the Iran trucks were dumps, they probably would not have had these valves.

Regardless, I would still like to believe these were the final 45!

On a facebook Brockway Truck Group page, a member posted that he remembers the tour that they showed these off at... would there have been a tour as late as the Iran trucks were built?

According to the gentlemen on the facebook page: Rockbusters, he wrote this about the timing of the cab photos... which makes it less likely they were last or used for Iran.

He wrote: The early 1970's, I was in a college extension summer course. I have more information that I can look up.

I wonder if his dates may be off. They didn't start making 700 series until late '74.

If they are Iran trucks, mid 1977.

I received an E-mail from Andy Hill confirming that these are in fact the Iran trucks!

"These are definitely the Iran U762TL's, an order of 50 which were sub-assembled in Cortland by management personnel and final assembled in Miami at Losada Truck and Equipment by management people from Cortland. These cabs were different than the DOT NY as there was no doghouse for the 12V71 engine. Bob Dillon did the engineering for the order (Iran). "

so the cab with the cardboard sign is really is the last one built . So Sad !!! :( :( :(

There were several orders for Iran and other countries in that corner of the world . There were yellow 761 dump trucks with square fenders and snowplow lights on the cab that went to Iran. There were also 758s with 24'' tires and roof air cond. , the one order was for 575 trucks.!
