Good evening all.. Well I made the test run of truck tonight and all went well. Looking ahead at the weather and looks like some rain for Cortland or during my commute up or back...lol. Any tips on driving in the rain? I've never run truck in rain so just looking for advice on what not to do, what to do as far as handling characteristics. Do these trucks act like an empty one ton truck? Thanks again, just covering all the safety bases.

Steve you just got to take it easy. Don't worry about the traffic around you.
Put your air pressure in the rear tires down to 40 or 50 pounds that will give you more tire on the ground. And you should have a limited switch on the dashboard where you could shut the air off to the front brakes. Drive with your lights on and you know your wife will be behind you in the pickup covering your back.
Driving in the rain you just need to be careful they call that (black ice.)
 Remember you are in charge feel like you're the boss.

Lots of Rain-X and a Big Squeegee! Did you get the tires and brakes all taken care of?

Tony, thanks. Ill air the tires down tomorrow. The truck never had front brakes, even from factory.

Ted, yea got all the tires done, drove it tonight, what a difference with no wobbling going on.
Just dealing with the fresh engine paint cooking in, man it stinks

Stephen - biggest issue to remember is that you have almost no weight on the drive tires when bob-tailing, and when driving in the rain, traction is even less. You will be able to drive and accelerate as much as you need to, but stopping is a whole other ball game!!! Increase the distance between you and the vehicles ahead of you, slow down early for off ramps especially ones on a curve. You will be fine, just pay attention and stay on your game. The fact that you are asking means you are already a step or two ahead of the other guy.

Stephen...

This is all good advice... drive slow and make sure you put Rain X on your windshield before you leave. We usually wind up driving in the rain on the way home and always avoid the interstate (81)

The first thing you do is tape a rotten egg to the bottom of your right shoe, Then DO NOT BREAK THE EGG!!!!!!!!

This means getting into the throttle and especially onto the brakes VERY GENTLY!!!

As Stan says give yourself all the room possible to get stopped. If at all possible use some gentle downshifting to slow down, BUT NO JAKE unless you can cut it down to just 2 or 3 cylinders.
