Uncle Sam Chapter Show Brockways!!!

Postby H762TL » Mon Jul 25, 2011 7:14 pm

I had a great time at the show yesterday talking with friends and seein all the Brockways and other trucks aswell. There was a total of 16 Brockways, 2 of which I didn't get pics of. Those were Dave Durling's 359, and Bruce Whitney's 759. Enjoy!!!!

Woooooooooord, can there ever be too many "cortland shakers" at one show? Was Cortland Shakers a real world term ever used to describe Brockways?

Sorry I cut off the Morehouse 758, it took a while to get a shot of the field without people walking thru, it was a great show!

Also, Dave Durling entering the rodeo coarse...

Was "Cortland Shaker" ever used to describe Brockway Trucks? Brockway Power, you need to ride in my 1951 !!! Great line-up of trucks outside Cortland. Too bad we don't have a venue that would allow that kind of picture. Even if we did we'd crowd it so full, no camera could capture all the Dawgs!! Looks like a couple of milk trucks with the SS tanks. Nice trucks, everyone.
Starting to get excited to be in Cortland.

Oh yeah they were called quite a few different things. We'd have to use an aerial! The Red 776 is an Etnyre Blacktopper, owned by Andy Hill, and the White 550 is an ex Mobil truck owned by Clarence Ritchie. Me Too!!

Those two red dump trucks are fabulous!!! Good comparison of the 759 vs 761. Can someone enlighten me as to the advantages of the front axle position of these two models. Perhaps the rear set axle allowed a larger payload but harder steering? C'mon Stanley I know you can do it! I realize it's probably common knowledge amongst truckers but I'm more interested in knowing than in saving face! (Not that I have much left with this crew)

I think the 759 was the somewhat same purpose of the 259, because the 259 was designed for smaller BBC and the raised cab to keep higher HP engines, because of the state laws restricting the total length of a tractor trailer. I would think the 759 was the same purpose, just alot newer.

Exactly, I also remember hearing the dual purpose of the higher cab was to give similar visibility to a COE, but in a short conventional. Thanks for posting the pics Jeff
