Wanna be my Guidance Counselor? CDL Jobs question....

I have a CDL-B with Air Brakes, Passenger, School Bus, Tanker, Hazardous Materials, and Motorcycle Endorsements. In Central DE. I have had it 10 years, 0 accidents, 0 points. I have both School Bus Physical, and Federal DOT Physical.
I'm starting a search for a job driving. School Busses have slowly erased any money I had, but the schedule has been perfect(I drive for the school Jody teaches at).
I am guessing there are HME Jobs that I have no clue exist. Like Hospitals or something. I would like to be home weekends. I would be taking off 8-10 days mid June, and a LONG weekend the 2nd weekend in August.
What is out there besides fuel delivery garbage and school busses/transit????

Think outside the box....
Please and Thanks!!!

I don't know what you mean by HME, but maybe I can offer some suggestions. How about a commercial, tour, or institutional bus? Limousine service? Wrong time of year, but concrete mixer drivers are home every night. Towing and recovery? From a different direction, you might try touching base with some temporary agencies, they might surprise you with possibilities. Many temp jobs can lead to full time positions. Up here in the snowy north, you can drive a DOT plow all winter and take your summers off. Or maybe drive a water truck for the natural gas frackers. They pay pretty good, I see ads for part time pay of $23/hour. Merry Christmas.

Thanks. The DMV book uses HME for Hazardous Mat'l. Endorsement. Tryin to make it lingo, I guess.
The recovery, concrete, brick delivery are areas I have already started approaching. I don't know how to say this without me sounding like a curmudgeon, but I kinda want to get away from passengers for a bit. #1-I live ina area that contains a WIDE mix of 4 generation 1,ooo acre farmers directly beside a housing community that wasn't there last year full of Wilmington and Philly transplants. It's diverse, and I appreciate that, but.... #2 I miss the chemical factory, where I could work with people, alone, sweat, rest, and express frustration(curse). Without an audience.
I've thought about the snowplow thing, not much opportunity here. I like your Temp agency thing! That is an area I will start looking into...
Thanks Steve. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Lumber yards, delivery companies, feed store bulk feed distributions, dump truck operations, concrete mixers, dairy bulk milk pickups all come to mind.

Why not post an ad in your local paper "CDL driver with hazmat endorsement seeks daily driver position. Clean license, tens years experience" There might be someone out there looking for YOU!
Merry Christmas ! Stan

A couple of those were some of my ideas. I HAD thought about a Craigslist ad seeking position, but didn't know. Have to do some research... Thanks Folks!

You could also try your local Teamsters Union hall. They may have some seasonal work that needs to be filled. Those jobs are sometimes difficult to fill, most people want steady employment. I worked out of our hall for several years and always got full years towards my pension credit. Pokey

Check out the farming operations.. Feed delivery, grain hauling, fertilizer, etc.. some farmers store grain and haul to market all year, not just a harvest time..
Maybe a farmer who needs both a truck driver and an equipment operator???

Chad, PA is looking for CDL snowplow drivers. They often keep the best ones.

I don't know if DE has a similar need.

My son Robert drove water trucks for the gas drillers (GDS in Montrose, PA). Made good $$. He left recently because he was missing the kids grow up. Worked his tail off, besides the hour ride to and from work.
