Brockway cab compared to a Mack cab

I have a 1975 761 that has a bad cab on it . Besides the right side firewall where the air cleaner is located is there a difference in Sheller Globe cabs ? I can get a 1985 Superliner cab that is in great shape for a good price. Should I tackle this swap ?

For starters the roof vent is in different place,dash and cowl. Joe D.

the pedals are different too. at least the clutch. I think macks are suspended and brockways are on the floor.

I'm wondering more like hood line up and cab mounts , steering column ?

Actually theres nothing of any real Structure for the hood to sit on. Due to the fact that superliner hoods sat on 3 support points. There was 2 on either side down on the bottom wich ware rubber bushing/guides
And up on top they user a roller that supported the top center of the hood with a guide Plate attached to the Hood. They did however use a rubber trim to help seal the hood on the cab but the metal behind it is not meant to support a hood. Also the cab mounts are diffrent. They are more like a "R" Model than anything else.

I looked at the Mack cab again tonight the cowl looks like the same radius and I can section in the area by the air cleaner . Has anyone seen this swap done before ? I am not worried about vent locations and things like that I'm more concerned about falling thru my floor !!!! Thanks again for the replies .

Check with Andy Preiser. His maroon or dark red 761 has a tilt nose mated to a Mack cab on a Brockway frame. I have pictures but I don't have the program to resize the pictures. You should be able to see it in the annual Brockway show parade album or on main street during the show.

I have a 761 cab I'd sell. Not perfect but not terrible. It was a log truck they cut off behind the cab. I bought it to save it from the scrapper. Mike

I think I have it figured out . I am going to use complete firewall and going to cut both at window pillar seams and rocker panel seams and join them together . Going to spend summer going thru drivetrain . Replacing kingpins right now,already resealed power steering box last week. I am trying to figure out how to get pics off phone to site . That's harder than kingpins !!!!!!!!!

You guys have alot of good ideas. If you have a good Brockway firewall to start with, it will be very easy to cut floor and windshield posts.

There is alot of measuring involved and writing down with a drawing but I ended up using a mack DM roof and back of cab and splicing them in. My floor was good in the Brockway so it was a pretty easy job. Less time consuming comparing to replacing panels. This job took about 3 days to do it.

It actually fit pretty well. Had to trim some of the seems where they are jointed together. I left the doors mounted on purpose so when I put up the new roof and back panel I could shut them to test out the fit.

I wasnt happy with the cost of the mack rocker panels so I ended up bending them up and making my own out of 10 gauge steel. I was very happy with the result.

After it was all welded with minimal body work I put some interior paint on the inside, primed the outside, and painted base coat clear coat for color. It was my first time trying the base coat clear coat and was pleased with the result. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting these pics Richie, wanted to suggest this, but pics are worth a thousand words! to allow the windshield posts to slide together think about welding some small strips of steel inside the posts this will give you a good backing to weld on and allow for a small adjustment if needed. you can plug weld the ends that are down inside the posts. Wow great pics ! Thank you ,I'm glad to see some one who had done this project . Everyone around here said it wasn't worth doing ,I now have the confidence to start cutting instead of staring at it ! Thanks again your truck looks great
