Well my son and I started tearing apart truck today to start the grind to get ready for Cortland. I'm not going too crazy just yet, a thorough inspection to ensure everything is road ready. We got the hood, fenders, front grill and cowl off today. Those screws holding the plastic inlay were rusted beyond belief, that took most of our time. Thought I'd share some pics, and post under this topic as I go along and count down until August.

Tom, all,

Sorry I havent gotten any pics up sooner, just been really pushing along on truck. I repaired cracked insert in grill and reinstalled after painting radiator. I went with stainless bolts so that shell will never seize in there again. All new water hoses are installed, installed the breather tube catch cans, supplied them with -6 hose, and a k&n breather to vent pressure. On left bank ran fuel hoses, lubrifiner hoses, and electrical into frame rail and secured with clamps to neaten up mess of hoses and wires running everywhere. Just have to put front bumper on the move on to exhaust hangers and install rear tires. I am at a point where mechanically I feel good about the run to cortland. Here are a few pics.

Stephen, You are the only person that I know that could detail out and engine inside the chassis and make it look like you did it on the floor or on a the bench.
You really must have a lot of patience to get in and clean everything like that.
Looking good. See you soon! Tony

Tony, It's a Navy/Coast Guard thing "If it moves, Salute it! If it doesn't move, Paint it!"
Stephen is what's known as an "Old Salt" and it's hard to retrain an old dawg from the habits of a lifetime !

But you're right! It looks great!
Emery

update. Well I have entire front back together. Made new air lines for air assist steering, ujoints in steering, properly hung the resonators under truck, fabricated a piece of stainless plate to hide the piping where it snakes up through frame. Today I am moving onto as many remaining air lines on trans as I can get done. As you can see, the bottom of my cab is rough, but I plan on addressing that over winter. The left bank exhaust is lower due to when previous owner made down pipe, he welded pieces way crooked, and flex pipe just wont take up adjustment, so over winter I will start from scratch with it, and make it right, just want to make Cortland right now....

Emery, thanks. I hope the trip north goes ok. I guess I better get the app for my phone that finds all the parts stores around wherever I am at, and have everyone on the board here on speed dial...hahaha
