I recently bought a 1987 R1500 2 wheel drive with the 6.2 idi non turbo (had a Banks Sidewinder turbo) diesel. Frame on it is very good. Very minor body rust and one small rust hole in pass door. Motor runs great and the trans was rebuilt about a year an a half ago also replaced the rear end. The truck is strait piped and has twin 5 1/2 inch miter cut stacks. It has a manual torque converter and manual glow plugs. Can send pics via cell or email upon request. She's a LOUD coal roalin beaut! Looking to sell as one piece or sell the motor and trans. Sort of rare to see a half ton with a diesel.

Well its sure getting one for Christmas:D and a new injection pump...snow tires too. the sad thing is the banks turbo kit cost more than i paid for the whole truck.... also thinking about some new front k2500 springs because the old ones are...well to say the least they're worn in. That truck drives like a Caddy though:)

You might want to consider plumbing a 6.5L GM-X turbo on it. It's cheaper, has better parts availability, and spools quicker. That's the route i'm probably going to go on mine when I get to it

i hear you gotta keep it under 10psi boost and change valve covers to a heavier one so it dont blow a valve through the covers... not sure really though

As long as you keep it under 10 PSI you don't really need to do gaskets. I was talking to some kid on youtube that's running 14 PSI without heavier gaskets or headstuds and he hasn't blown it yet. I'd stick with 10 PSI though
