Today's work party at the museum was a little different. In addition to removing surplus construction material from the rear of the building and a thorough organizing of the supplies in the boiler room, we built a bill board! At over 12 feet long and nearly 15 feet high, the bill board and the museum owned ex- Town of Homer that it is mounted on, will be parked along the river behind the carport of the museum and will be visible from Interstate 81 South. Although the wording is still being discussed, the sign will tell travelers to get off at the next exit to come to the museum. A sign shop will make a vinyl sign to be installed over the structure we built. It just goes to show you that there are many ways a Brockway truck is still useful even unlicensed and not moving! I will post more pictures when the project is complete.

I doubt the roof could hold the weight in one area like that but possibly a model 88 or something. I'll mention it at a board meeting.

For a minute there Stan, thought you were getting the truck ready to haulk snow with those monster racks. That's how we do it uo here, build the driver's side up, and blow from the pass side.. Only a Brockway single axle could handle snow racks that high!!!

There's a cabover on the roof of a truck repair garage on 83 heading towards Baltimore (maybe closer to York Pa)

I've seen that many of times, Tom. It's a 362 double bunk Pete. I think what you are refering to Glen was a White Road Commander w/ a dry box trailer, Elevated along side the NYS Thruway @ Fultonville for advertising all the truck services there.. A petition was Filled out to ban it because it was a distraction for motorist and an unsafe ROAD HAZZARD. Another battle lost for the American Trucker. Great idea Dane! It would be something noticable along 81

For on the roof, you wouldn't even need a whole truck, add a set of fenders and a frame with wheels to this and you're good to go.

How about just a front end mounted either on the wall, of on the roof, facing the 81 as if were "crashing" thru the wall? Just and idea...

GREAT ideas!! A cab could be used and the frame mocked up out of wood and painted or a bill board such as the one shown. Any or all would really grab some attention and make best use of our proximity to the interstate.

This is an idea that can be made to work, and work well.

The only major drawback to the whole idea is that as you travel on 81 you really need to know where to look to see the museum. There is some tree growth that blocks the view. What we need is a sign/display along the highway. Next time I'm out on 81 I'll try to get a picture of what is visible.

Bring a chainsaw with you Stan!!! (be "Proactive" )
Could be that we could mount that type of display where it could be viewed from the street (Rte 11) as well as the Interstate. Definitely something our great board of directors can sink their teeth into!! ( a little Dental insight for ya'll) :-)

Sure! Once we have a plan I'm sure we can collect money.
