How did the gears in the Double Over 13 work, were the lows lower and the highs higher, or where they all stepped up equally?

It would make sense you would run a lower gear ratio to get more power on the low side, and then the double over made up for that lower ratio on the high side; I'm just curious about the ratios within the trans itself.

Yea, the hood ornament dog. And Ted, I I'd rather have the 318 over anything else. But for me, the only thing truly wrong is why don't you ever see any 100 or 200 series trucks that nice looking?

Ted, the RTOO with higher overdrive makes the low end a little bit faster aswell.

I've got a RTOO14613 in my Superliner, freshly rebuilt when I bought the truck 4 years ago.As far as I'm concerned,it can't wear out fast enough.Only transmission I ever drove that I hated more was a Super 10.It might be OK if you had real low rear end gears, but it's pretty worthless with 3:55's.I very, very seldom ever get the stick against the dash, and can count the times on one hand I've had it in the big hole.

Nice picture of a working dog. Good colors.I had a RTOO 13 speed in a Autocar Tri-Axle dump it had 6.20 rear ratio so it worked out well for me with a 12.50 ist gear and I think .65 in double over. It replaced a TO 955ALL which had a low gear of 17.50 or close but same overdrive. Biggest problem of 13 double over for me it was extremely noisy. With 20" rubber at 2100 it ran about 65-67 MPH. Mike H. with the 3.55 rear ratio it probably runs triple digits.Nce to see you got the G-Model home. I do not think I would like it with 3.55'S either.Joe D.

yeah i forgot about that. it is a tall tranny. got one in a mack dm690 with 5.73 in the back with 22.5 on it. perfect gearing. has alot of power going up hills. the low end could be lower but i have yet to feel that i needed a lower gear off road.

dane has a truck with the rtoo with 4.44 in the back. i bet that truck would go 90 let alone what 3.55's would do.

RZ, I only have a couple on the road. The other ones are stored all over the place. Kinda like all the Brockway parts you have. The coe's tucked away real good and I always forget about that truck. I remember the guy I bought it from said it would get up and go. He ran apples into Mass. with it untill he parked it in '84.
