Does anyone know if Sheller Globe made the cabs for both Mack and Brockway, just changing some features, or did mack have a different supplier?

Sheller Globe made both cabs. The early "small" 700 cab was built by them to Brockway specs. The later "Plus 3" cabs were very nearly the same as a R model cab, with minor changes to the cab mount and firewall area. There are also differences in the right front panel where the air cleaner mounts and the location of the roof vent. The boys at the Zigmont shop could tell you more, they are 700 series experts.

Somewhere I remember seeing a post where somebody said that the standard 700 series cab was identical to the early R model cabs with straight backs, instead of the later, bulged-back cabs like what most R models have.

The very early R model cab (1966) was very near the same dimension as a Brockway cab. It had the "flat back" as well. Still Sheller Globe.

Stan, thanks for the reply on this hot topic, but i beg to differ with you on the level of 700 cab expertise that the Zigmont shop has. From what I have seen down there they only start with nearly new cabs. I don't know of any 700 ser. that they actually have had to weld replacement pannels in or on and or converted. Sorry RZ, You do good work, darn good work, but I've never seen you start with a 700 rot box. I personally have taken a 758 cab and made it into a 761 cab. There are more differences than one might think. The key to any "we gotta "mack" cab now we wanna make it into a Brockway cab" converision is the firewall. Without a good wall, ya minds well keep lookin'. It's eaiser to find a good wooden cab for your 100 ser. project then it is a good 700 cab. Pretty crazy when you think about it. So go get a mack cab and use it. If it's off a superliner and got air ride, even better. After all, the next generation of Brockway's was going to use the same cab and they were all made by sheller globe.

So, as I said there is a difference between a Brockway cab and a mack cab.

Wow. I kept hearing about this hot topic but havent really glanced at it until now. Wow this is how we conduct ourselves a month before the show?!?!

I will start with the most recent. Dane, next time you are down here, I will personally walk you around the 700's we have and will show you the work performed on the 776 of Dan's. You know, the ex NYS DOT PLOW TRUCK!!!! The black 761 had a new roof, driprail, above the rear window sheet metal, rockers, cabcorners, floors, front side panels, just to breif it. Dane shame on you for kicking the Zigmont experiance level right in the nuts.

Secondly, why are you people bashing someone who has money to fix a truck? Just because a guy says a comment about it having some mack stuff on a truck doesnt mean he said it cant come to the show. And just because some put more into the hobby whether its time or money than others, doesnt mean they will have better luck finding NOS Brockway parts. You make due with what you find no matter how much money you do or dont want to throw at your truck, Mack parts or not. Some guys want their Brockway looking pretty, but have to go out every morning to crack the oil pan plug to drain the water out of the oil. Some guys just like having a bunch of trucks in their yard just to save them from the crusher. Or some guys will make due with a Mack cab and take advantage of the improvements that have been made in them. (wiring, dash accessabilty, ect) But whatever the case may be, we are trying to keep a Brockway going no matter how you look at it.

I will remind those who seem to have a problem with criticism on here, the Brockway museum would not be where it is today if it wasnt for the people who have extreme love and dedication for the trucks and the hobby.

Therefor I remain neutral on this topic because I think its rediculous and hope that the administrator doesnt earase my post like has been done in the past for just telling the truth.

Richie

Did you use NOS Brockway replacement panels? Haha! I wasn't aware of that extensive body work - (hush, hush down there). Sorry, I stand corrected. The Zigmont expertise lives on!!!!!

It sounds to me like you commented. Dude who are you? Keep it Brockways only. Nobody needs to put their two cents in on here about someone else's personal life. Joe Blow told me about John Doe through Jane Doe. Really???? Common, Brockways only.

I'm just a simple truckdriver, but my advise is, "stop responding, and it might go away"

otherwise............it gets bigger and bigger and..........

Here's a bit of irony!turns out Preiser's have a weekend place near me and the now near famous truck was up here. So I had lunch with them and another Brockway fanatic yesterday. I guess the important thing is Andy and his uncle love the truck and just want to go to the show and enjoy! So to turn things back Brockway here's a video.

http://youtu.be/YfVTEhkDJyo

I think this truck can serve everyone well for future projects with updates that have been done. So check it out at the show. I happen to like it!
