Many of you may remember or have heard about the famous clambake that Brockway held every year in Cortland. The BTPA board of directors is considering having a good old fashioned clambake on the museum grounds as a fund raiser for the museum. Tentatively to be held June 9, 2012, the afternoon of our 3rd Annual Spring Fling, the BTPA Clambake would be a 2pm until ? event. The menu has not been fully determined, but would most likely be clams, shrimp, sausage, burgers, salt potatoes, draft beer, soda. The gate fee would be $50, which includes all you can eat/drink wrist band, a commemorative mug ( like Brockway used to do!) and donation to the museum. Given the considerable planning this mega-event will require, the board is asking for comments on the your interest level in attending. Please post your comments and a tentative number of attendees if you chose to join us.

Yes! This is a full blown clambake, draft beer, steamed clams, lots of food, etc. etc. etc. Come early stay late and call a cab to the hotel!!! We may even coordinate some designated drivers - who knows! This one is going to be fun!

Stan, I'm not sure if you are having it catered or if you are having voluteers do it. I have access to a 4 drawer clam steamer that will do at least 30 doz at a time. I would make it available. I also have other large pots and pans (catering stuff) that can be used. Scott
PS you can count on at least 2 maybe 5 from my camp.

At this point, it will be a fully catered event so everyone can enjoy themselves but if it becomes a "in house" event, we'll keep your generous offer in mind. Thanks Scott.

This is in addition to the Grand Opening (June 8th at 1pm)? and the annual Spring Fling event going on the same day as the bake (June 9th). Sounds like a busy weekend. I can't speek for the rest of my crew, but I plan to be in attendance. I love clams!!!!! RZ, you in charge of the horseshoe tournament?

Stan I would also probably be in attendance with Dane, but I think you need more specifics. Have you guys talked to the person who would be catering this event? Based on what I have seen from the last two years any of your loyal following who is present would partake in that event. 25 for the dinner 25 for the the "cause"!! If that is the case I think its a great idea but how many were in attendance at last years fling? The two day part makes it tough I wont be able to get out of work for that and the big show so i will drive down fri nite probably. Dane had a good idea the other day how about a fri fish fry the week of the big show instead of two chicken dinners? You guys know the usuals will be there but you need random people from cortland who LOVE clams to be there as well same goes for the dinners the week of the show!!! All you can eat and drink 50 bucks Sounds like a good deal to me!

No horseshoes RZ? Ok anyway, here we go. The way I see it is that the museum needs money. In order to get said monies, stuff/services need to be sold. Can you guys invite the towns people to this clambake and all the other dinners? Basically get the community involved. To only try and get revenue in for the "cause" off truck owners and interested attendees I think is missing the boat. I'm sure there are alot of people in that area who would/do support the museum. Kinda like when your local church has a chicken BBQ. The local community as a whole needs to look forward to the museum and events that take place there in order to make this endevor sustainable. I've been told the merchants in the area love when we're all in town and even contribute money. But how about all the other regular people down there? Let's get them involved somehow other that watching the parade. They may not have a truck, but I bet their proud to live there! also...I'll be the one to say it.....Check into a fish fry Fri. nite and or a pig roast!....somethin' different..........Dane

Stan and the BOD
Have to agree with Dane on getting to whole city in on both the clam bake and the Friday nite dinner.
Will not make the clam bake as I have all my fuel money scheduled to make both West Springfield and Macungie.
