Brockway Pic of the Week 6-6-11

Postby oldspwr » Mon Jun 06, 2011 9:27 am

Every once in a while I do a search over on the Big Mack Trucks website and I found a few pics of Brockway's that Stamulis owned. Here is a pic of a fleet of 6 257's they owned back in the day...

Image

Mowerman posted the pics and his this was his Uncle Tom's company... Here is the link...

Thanks Tom, They had a grarge on Walton st. Portland, Maine. Like all of the chicken haulers they would fly. If you saw them comming just pull over and let them by and don't follow to close or chicken blood would be all over your truck. Tommy had a great fleet. It ended when the chickens went south. Nice fleet, you must have really noticed them at night with the big driving lights under the bumper! Why did the chickens go south??

huskiedrive359 Most if not all the big chicken producers went South to Delmarva Peninsula Georgia and Arkansas. Lower operating costs and better weather are some prime reasons. It was a good looking fleet though. Joe D.

Joe is right. You can't drive down 13 in Delaware below Dover with seeing a Perdue chicken truck every two or three minutes!!! So many that there are white chicken feathers everwhere along the side of the road! Some really huge farms down that way. Stan

You can make some serious jack down here with chicken houses. You can smell them too! If you see feathers going down the road they are on there way to the Packing plant and come out the other end the same day and on a reefer to your friendly grocer. Tip I got from a Perdue worker." don't eat the Mcnuggets!
