Brockway Pic of the Week 5-23-11

Postby oldspwr » Mon May 23, 2011 6:25 am

This past Saturday at the Spring Fling, Keith Sczurek (Pokey) and his wife Joann introduced themselves and sat down to visit with myself and Tommy. Keith had brought along two albums of Brockway pics which contained a lot of show pics along with some pics of trucks he had seen in his travels. He also had a few loose pics which included his 359, and I thought it would make a great pic of the week...

So for pic of the week we have Keith's 1974 359 with a 230 Cummins along with a 10 speed. Hopefully Keith (Pokey) can add some history on the truck for us...

Tom, thanks for using my 359 for the pic of the week! We had a very nice time at the Spring Fling and got a chance to meet some very nice people. Here's what I know about the truck, it is N359T83522 that was delivered to the Hartford, Ct. dealership and purchased by P&G Motor Freight of South Windsor, Ct. on March 16, 1974. After P&G sold the truck it had a 5-7 yard dump body put on it. I've been told that it was used by a small construction contractor near Bridgeport, Ct. (and I mean USED!) A pintle hitch was added. I removed it as well as the dump body. A fifth wheel has been installed and the brake lights and signals have been put back on the frame. It still has a long way to go but, it is road worthy and is registered for the road. Someday Joanne and I will get it back to Cortland for the August show. Again thanks for the honor, and looking forward to seeing you and Tommy again. Pokey

Pokey, You need a 40' freight box to pull around with the 359...

John K, I was thinking more like a 35' or 40' flat... then I could use it to pick up hay or take some of my hit-an-miss engines to shows. Pokey

Thank you for attending the Spring Fling and also joining the Charter Membership of The Brockway Museum. The Board is working on a membership card that will be laminated, numbered and will be able to be warn. The plan is to have them for the National Show in August. Be sure to circle the box for First time at the show on the registration form.

Sled Dog, I'm sure we'll make it out for the August show, but I'm not sure about Pokey's "Puppie". Maybe I can get it trailered out to Courtland. Pokey

Hi Mike, Joanne and I are heading out for Las Vegas in 2 weeks. At this point I'd say I'm not going to make the Brooklyn show. Pokey
