Here's a photo update from Bob Sr. of the H360 frame being dismantled and prepared for sandblasting. The suspension is Hendrickson Extended Leaf. Note the front frame extensions used by the H360 and U360.

This photo, on loan from the David J Mueller Collection, is of a Colprovia sister H360TL. From the side, you can see the additional length in the hood and the reason for the frame extensions.

Just a little update, Young Bob has started re-assembling the frame, here is the mock-up of the frame and liners, some of the holes may need reaming. Origionally a single frame, it is said that back in the day, these H360's loaded, saw weights grossing 160,000 pounds.

With a restoration going to this extent, it will be better than new when finished. Nice rails!

Things may be getting serious here, frame has been moved into the main shop. Nuts and bolts have been purchased, Bob Sr's time is freeing up to put the Cat 1693 back together.

Photos from Little Dave and he writes, Well, we made a little progress today...

Cat 1693TA......Now we're getting serious........

Bob wrote, "As you can see I've had time to get in rather deep. I'm taking the crankshaft to my machinist tomorrow to get it checked out. Once I get the crank back I should be able to screw the engine together."

He included these photos.

There are pictures of cars in various states of repair in the background. Is this a vehicle restoration facility ?

More from the Creative Photography Studio at Whalen Leasing, if the shrink wrap were removed from the Crank, we would have a Museum Exhibit....

Couple of new Bob Whalen Photos to post of the crank installed in the 1693 block. He is at a standstill with the 1693 because one of the overhead cranes is supporting a 320 lb head for a C16 Cat. It would take two cranes to flip the 1693 over safely, in order to continue with the build.

The related story:

C16 head hanging by crane in first photo, engine has total of 857,000 with a fresh rebuild 57,000 ago. Two broken liners discovered recently, all Cat parts. The newest liners for C16's are now made in Germany with new part numbers.

During the final torque down of the head, one of the head bolts snapped, you can see where it stretched and broke in the last pics, new head bolts are on the way. According to Cat, the truck will be in a boneyard before these new liners go bad, we shall see......

A little recreation of a possible scene back 40 years ago of a Colprovia Brockway hooked to a dust trailer, thanks to Jimmy W, Big Dave, Russell B, and Little Dave, and of course the Digital Darkroom.....

Tom, The re-creation was done with Russell's 361, being that it's Erie Blue and simular to #6922 which is the first photo in the post, as far as 7222, there may be a few more crossmembers bolted to the frame.....
