Good Luck Stretch!! I unfastened my steering box but had to pull the engine to get it out from between the frame and the engine. Mine's a 260XW but probably equipped the same steering.

Yeah..that's what I was thinking too.
Just thought I would throw it out there.
Most everything else is out now anyways so I guess it isn't too big a deal.

Thanks,

Little update...

Just before the spring fling some of you saw that my cab was on the back of my Company truck.
I had picked it up at Robinson's wood shop, along with my ''NEW" cab pieces.

Time to get after it again!!!

Looks good Stretch, are those the door posts? And where that big board goes? Please keep posting pictures if you can.

Stretch, I wish I had taken a closer look at those door sill pieces. Yours look like three pieces of stock screwed together with T-nuts! Is that correct?? My old ones , if I remember correctly are wood screwed together and only two pieces. Can you email me and clarify?? Maybe some prfile pics as well?

Oscar,

The photos are of the same three pieces, just flipped over to show both sides.

The wide board is the piece over the windshield. It has cut outs for the wiper motors.
The middle is the cab front window/ door post that rots out on most of the cabs.
The other is the back of the door upright.

I have all the floor pieces and more door pieces as well.
I still am waiting on the front of the door...post, which the hinges mount. Those he is still working on.

One thing I learned from going to Robinson's shop is that , there are alot of variations to the wood cabs. They look the same but have subtle differences.

Thanks Stretch, That's what I thought about the wide board. I remember the cutouts for the wiper motors but not the holes. I got to do a inventory of my parts, I believe your right about the differences, subtle but they are different.

Stretch, I understand about my confusion on the over the windshield piece but your Main door frame post is what we compared at the spring fling. Are you waiting on the front piece for the door itself?? I haven't yet addressed the over the windshield piece so I confused it with the door sill piece which is also assembled from individual pieces. Luckily, I have a spare cab without sheet metal as a guide because mine was pretty rotten.

I call on Barrett Materials for work, and I went up there the other day and saw the cab as I was headding up the road.

Who owns or did own that black 761 at the farm down the road ? I wuse to see it parked out back, buthaven't seen it in a while.
It looked to be in fairly good shape.

Long over due update.

Since I last left off it was about Spring Fling time. That is when I had picked up some of the new wood pieces that Steve Robinson had made for me. When I got home all had have done was unload the cab and put the pieces in storage.

With the coming of Hurricane Sandy, I thought I should be getting everything inside, so I did some moving around of equipment and parts to get the cab back in the garage to work on.

Well...I was able to remove the back sheetmetal panel and get the front cowl off. I am glad I did, as there was more rot uncovered, so now I will be going a bit more wood work than first thought....OH Well... here are some photos..

Front cowl piece was removed....when I did that..well the whole front window posts fell apart.

I had to stick a support piece in there to keep the rest of the cab frame from breaking.

Stretch;

I have an NOS steering wheel if you need one, Also, for the future, I have a extra steering wheel puller I can loan out, it is specifically for a Ross box.

What type of trim piece goes into the groove/slot in the piece of trim that goes all the way around the roof section that is nailed into the roof. It looks like a a piece of vinyl with stitching in it?

Stretch !!
Progress looks good on the wood filled cab!! Your a full time driver and full time carpenter !!
The picture of the rainbows and you truck were great!! If you could put the Horses
in with the Brockway and the Rainbows it would look good on a calender or hang it on the
the wall!!!
