Yesterday, my Dad and I took a break from working on the 361 and decided to take a trip North to visit Richie Zigmont and his Dad Joe... Richie had some parts we wanted to look at so we decided yesterday would work. While we were there visiting, Craig M. and Brian B. also stopped by to visit. Then the Zigmonts unveiled their latest project... a 1976 N761LL-89827... This truck has a 350 Cummins with a 13 speed RR, and has been fitted with air ride and hub pilots all around. While visiting, Richie explained some of the history on the truck, and when they bought it, they literally brought it home in bushel baskets. Maybe Richie can add some more info...

Now that is one sweet truck. What are you going to do with it, dump, tractor...?

I've had the pleasure of seeing the restoration of this truck unfold. Joe and his son do one fine job. I can only hope my tilt nose turns out half as nice. Excellent job guys, will I be able to drive it to the PA show?

That is absolutely stunning!!!
The color combination is absolutely beautiful and nice job.
Now you need to send it to Gulfstream motor home and have a nice beautiful camper built on that chassis. And then your dad could travel all around the country with it hitting all the national truck shows.
8) That would be my dream motorhome 8)

thanks for the compliments guys. the truck was originally bought by bethlehem steel as a dump truck to haul what i think was slag product that was unusable after the process of making steel. it somehow ended up at the branch in Buffalo NY where the guys there decided to smoke the clutch out of it. it sat parked for a while becuase bethlehem steel did not want to put anymore money in the truck. (just spent money on re-building the motor) it was later sold to a man in Buffalo where he went through the process of disasembly and sandblasted everything. he was rebuilding the truck for his father but during the restoration his father died. The guy had no interest in putting the truck back together so he somehow got ahold of us. (we are bigger than the people in rochester!!!) after two truckloads we got the truck and put in storage for the next five years. September of 08 we started painting the truck and putting it back together. We found a fiberglass nose about an hour from our house that we put on it for an added touch. the air ride rears, fuel and air tanks along with the battery box are from a 2001 freightliner. the front axle came out of an international NYSDOT truck. so now the truck has S-cam brakes all the way around and with the tilt nose, very easy to work on. we had a modern day theme and ran with it and thats what my father and I came up with. the salt is still restricting us from taking it on its first drive. once we drive it a little bit and make sure everything works properly, it will go up for sale. we are brockway nuts, we have alot of trucks but we just dont have the garage space for it. it will make a good turn key truck for somebody.

Hey Richie I be really interested in buying that truck.

And yes I would put a sleeper on the back the whole length of the chassis.

:?: What do you think the top speed of the truck will be?
because I would drive it from Florida to Cortland every year.

Thanks Tony

Hi All, I'm new to the board although I've been lurking for years, admiring the passion and work on display here. I must say, to me, this is one stunning resto-mod, to steal some lexicon from the TV car auction craze of late. This example makes me truly wonder what the 7 series might have evolved into if they'd been allowed to roll off the line into the 2000's as the RD's were allowed to.

Cheers

I'll take it easy with her. I wanna make sure you tightened all the bolts, and the engine is sound. With a resto like that, whats another couple hundred to throw at a nice stero w/cd and some speakers. If you want me to buy the truck, it has to have an alpine deck in it. Thats what's in my Tri-Axle. I know you don't like to listen to music when you drive big trucks, but up in Rochester, we cruse in style.!!!!!!!!

well ponyboy if you had read the story that i had posted on here, you would have read that the motor had a fresh rebuild on it. we even pulled the pan to make sure the story was true. it carries good oil pressure and all that happy stuff. hey speaking of motors did you buy a near new chevy colorado with a bad motor in it??

and for you baldwin you are supposed to listen to the truck function. listen to the motor and kind of clatter that may seem odd. ponyboy failed to do that as he was blasting his radio in his colorado when it decided to start desinigrating on him. he couldnt hear the motor crying for help as he was bee bopping to the bee gee's. so yes the truck has the brockway radio delete panel in it and if need be, you can put a radio in it.

Since when has pulling an oil pan told you anything about the condition of an engine? You may be able to look at bearings and such, but what does that tell you about anything else? Didnt you pull the pan on the said 220 that puked it cookies prior to installing it? How did that work for you?

well well if it isnt the infamous stubbynosedbrock. shall we go another round? like i said before my 220 ran great when i first bought it and had quite a bit of time running before i tore the whole truck apart. there would have been no way of knowing that there were o-rings on the liners just ready to puke. but regaurdless i caught it before the thing set up on me going down the road. so that leaves me to ask you stubbynosedbrock, do you plan on pulling your running motor apart to check to see if its ok or are you gonna run it because from what i see it is a very good running motor. even in the middle of february with the shutters wide open driving it home. it has been a year now and im finally recovering from burning eyes and dizziness from following you home with that smokey friggen truck on that cold wintery day.
