Re: Its alive!!!!!!!!!

Here's a link to a series of posts by one of our members doing his father's E361. There are some very good pictures of the 300 series cab floor when he had the cab off and laying on it's back. Scroll down about 1/2 way down the page of all the photos. http://www.brockwaytrucks.org/messageboard/viewt...

Re: Its alive!!!!!!!!!

That is great news. Make sure to run the engine to temp and get all the remaining moisture out of the crankcase. You could run in above idle for a while with the oil fill plug out of the valve cover to help purge the moisture. Don't rev too high It will blow oil out too. Engine need to be run fully ...

Re: Water in oil

Complete the pressure test on the oil cooler as discussed. The only place coolant and oil are close is in the oil cooler. For coolant to get into the pressurized oil system, I feel it's somewhere where the galleys are close to each other. If it were a head gasket failure you would see both oil and w...

Re: Water in oil

You need to disassemble further. Remove the o rings around the end of the tube bundle and push it out of the housing. Be sure to make a couple of marks on both the bundle and the housing as the bundle is timed to the housing in a certain position. If you look closely you will see a factory timing ma...

Re: Water in oil

Just happened to spot this one on Ebay currently. Might not be a bad way to go if you have to buy a cooler bundle for yours. The tube bundle is over $300 new.

Re: Water in oil

Oil cooler. Either the cooler to block gaskets or the tube bundle. Either way the cooler needs to come off the side of the block. It's below the exhaust manifold. Pull it apart, look for blown gaskets, cracks in the housings, and pressure test the tube bundle by making a couple of round plates to co...

Re: Ligon Brockway

Tom, if I'm not mistaken there are other pictures of this truck while still in red primer at a truck stop. If it's the same one I'm thinking of, the hood was open on one side showing the 903 Cummins in the engine bay. Hence the need for the custom widened hood. From the size of the stacks I'd say th...

Re: 68 Brockway - Power Steering Upgrade

Thanks for the ride along Tom. The old horse sounds pretty good and seems to pull strongly throughout the RPM range. It may just be the microphone but it sounds like there may be an exhaust leak at one of the cylinder head to manifold gaskets. I could hear a tic tic tic on acceleration. I'll bet Rus...

Re: New to Brockway

Also, Brockway did use a lot of the NTC-290 Cummins, but most were in the later 700 series and in some of the 400 series cab-overs.

Re: New to Brockway

In order to determine whether it is a head gasket leaking or a cylinder liner, drop the pan and put a little pressure on the cooling system, about 4 or 5 psi. If it's a head gasket, the water will be dripping from the push rod areas or oil returns, if it's a liner it will be coming down along side o...

Re: New to Brockway

Congratulations and welcome to the family! There are many places that you can get maintenance parts for the drive line, such as any heavy trucks parts store or on line at Ebay etc. Brockway trucks were component built, meaning they sourced all the components except sheet metal, unlike Mack who build...

Re: Red and Arts

Pretty sharp old Brock. It's nice to see the older ones painted in a bright color. Most came down the line painted in the dark green that was so popular back then. Now if restored those truck have a chance at showing off the beauty of the swooping body lines under a shiny paint.

Re: ID Tags on eBay

Factory mistakes maybe? They don't look like they've ever been installed. Still would be an interesting story to hear as how they got them.
