Re: Brockway Color Combinations

Bottom row, first picture, of a yellow and black 359 is Schuyler Co Hwy. in Watkins Glen NY. They had at least two ten wheeler dumps with that color scheme.

Re: Brockway at auction comming up!!!

As per one of my sources, $3500 plus buyers fee and NYS sales tax. That makes it around $4100 total. Buyer was Root Bros. farms. At least they are Brockway people.

Re: Dormant Truck??

Kroil and Sea Foam are both good, but very expensive. A cheap homemade penetrating oil is made by mixing equal parts of acetone and ATF. And it works!

Re: Dormant Truck??

Emery - any oil will do. Idea is to cover surfaces to prevent oxidation. Did you know that the covers on the side of the block on a flathead are sometimes referred to as valve covers? But more correctly are named tappet covers. If the engine were laying on it's side, tappet cover up, you could fill ...

Re: Dormant Truck??

Emery - although some will dispute this, many salvage yards fill the engine completely with whatever oils the have on hand, most use old ATF or similar. They fill the crankcase and cylinders right to the top of the valve covers. This prevents oxidation of all the internal surfaces and components. Wh...

Re: Cummins HRF B 6

In later years, models with an F signify a horsepower rating for fire service (truck or stationary pump). Not sure on the early models, but it may be the same.

Re: Cooling system questions

Always nice to have the valve in place and operational should a leak occur in the heater system. You can shut the valve and protect the system. As for gallons of coolant required, it depends on the model. It appears your engine is a small inline Cummins and if the truck is a 300 series then it shoul...
