Re: Positive Ground Question

Thanks Stan, this is just what I was looking for! So it appears that someone put new ends on two of the battery cables, maybe lol. There is a very slight difference in size with what I think is the smaller going to the solenoid. Still not a real definitive size difference to me. Looked at the fuel a...

Positive Ground Question

Evening, I've searched online quite a bit and haven't found a real clear answer to give me confidence. I even searched the forum and found a thread that Stan started that was called Brockway quiz 9. Mike Pacittos answer fits how my starter is wired almost. Mine has 2 battery cables and 2 smaller wir...

Re: Need a part identification

Thank you for the information. I like the thought of keeping it original but might be better to go with the new easier to get filters.

Need a part identification

I've search the web and have come up with nothing close. When the rubber hose broke it was packed full of an oily gunk. When I unscrewed the fitting it had been connected to some foul smelling liquid came out. Not much though and it almost smelled like ammonia. I haven't taken it apart any further. ...

Re: Picked up a project today

Thanks Stretch! That has been a concern of mine and especially after reading about your experience. I will definitely have a plan in case things go South. I'm glad you were able to get yours straight without major issues.

Re: Picked up a project today

It's in the barn! Last post I was gonna look for a compression release. I've looked it over and I don't believe this engine has one. I finally found a couple pics online where it should be like you said Brandon but mine doesn't have anything even close.

Re: Picked up a project today

Thanks for the advice. I hoped to get some time this week to see about the compression release but it's been busy. Hope to this weekend.

Re: Picked up a project today

Yeah, I am hopeful it does turn over. Oil level is good on the stick and I put 2 gal of water in the radiator which brought it to full in the sight glass. I'll put a new fuel filter on, I'll need to draw from a 5 gal can for now. I assume that will work? What does the compression release look like? ...

Re: Picked up a project today

Ok, good to know about the C meaning. Everything I have come across on the web hasn't broke it down like that. Is there anything to look out for when I work on getting it running, anything specific to cummins?

Here's some pics of the rears.

Re: Picked up a project today

I got the cab cleaned out, floor isn't swiss cheese but it's pretty ugly. Figured it would be though. JDG thought the rears looked like 38k Hendrickson extend a leaf. Cleaned the crud off the engine and found a tag that says it's a NHC-250 not an NH. Trying to educate myself about Cummins engines no...

Re: Picked up a project today

Thanks for the welcome! I'm sure I will have plenty of questions but I'm glad I have the opportunity to own a Brockway. I will definitely be contacting the Mack Museum, I'm very interested in finding out the history on this truck.

Re: Picked up a project today

Thanks, its a N361TL-17-68725 with a NH-250 and a RR RTO-913. Don't know the axle spec on the rears or the front. Rear I can't find a tag with info yet and the front needs to be cleaned. The gentleman I bought it from parked it in 89 or 90.

Picked up a project today

Hello, I've been in the background on the board for quite awhile. Today I finally acquired my first Brockway, a 1968 N361Tl. I'm sure my questions will be many as I get into it but the knowledge on here gives me plenty of confidence. I'll post more pics when I get some, storms rolled in shortly afte...
