Re: E361T Progress - 671 to 671T

Pyrometer sensor after turbo is where most are installed. The guys with aluminum pistons where they turn up the wick on the fuel may install the sensor ahead of the turbo, as I've heard aluminum pistons can melt above 1100*F. You'll never see that, you may get to 700-750*. From another Guild member,...

Re: E361T Progress - 671 to 671T

Stan------Who'd derate a 6-71, especially by 1974, when the 8V71 was selling great? Our DD distributer in Cleveland had a field service guy working full time at White Motor Co. to pull housings, change timing and injectors on 8V71 engines in the skid, before they went in fleet trucks . 290 HP with 6...

Re: E361T Progress - 671 to 671T

Tom's engine should already be advanced timed, because it is A natural aspirated engine that he's hanging the turbo hardware on . If you get too much boost in your airbox, the covers will start leaking anyway and there goes the pretty truck . I'd use the N70s that you already have and enjoy the setu...

Re: E361T Progress - 671 to 671T

That's certainly the one I'd be installing .................newer technology. You won't have a comparison between the 2 turbos but you know all engine manufacturers have made those changes to improve lower RPM performance. I'm somewhat surprised by D&Ws response, as a V12 is equipped with 2 turb...

Re: E361T Progress - 671 to 671T

Tom---Following along like a good Detroit supporter would, my 1st thought was : Why did you use that old style hardware when you had all the latest and greatest up through '80s technology . Then I saw the alternator would have had to get relocated and that compounded your work potential . And the 2 ...

Re: E361T Progress - NEW PROJECT!

You guys have been so creative with your custom ideas, then followed your dreams to make it happen ! Outstanding ideas and your skills. What makes you think your dad will enjoy those radio speakers plus the CB chatter above the drone of that 6-71? I think that radio will just take up space in the ca...

Re: Back in the day.....

Good try with the digital dark room ! WOW the DEF didn't pass sharp eyes. Even the Cat engine looked like a 1693 to me, as I just had a rework on one cataract operation from March. Thanks !

Re: Looking for help finding information for my Brockway

Usually the body builder's name is on the pump control panel that tells how many gallons per minute at what engine speed.

Re: Spotted for sale

Maybe it's not dump truck season. I thought "Brockway" for sale would liven up the thread.

Re: E361T Progress - NEW PROJECT!

Per the manual, when adjusting the buffer screw, don't raise the speed more than 25 RPM over the base idle by the buffer screw as shutdown issues could result.

Re: Lyons Transportation Lines Brockway

I reminded JW on his comments on the ATHS forum of Lyons phrase on their mudflaps that, on one said "Here Today" , and on the other said "There Tomorrow". I have a pair hanging in my pole barn. Another fleet that used the 90 nuthin with weed burner exhaust was a good Brockway cus...

Re: rto9513 replacing r96

Some housings have dual drilling for either pull or push type linkage. Newer housings probably dropped that practice to save production costs. I assume you know the input shafts are different as well as input shaft collar for the pull v/s push type .

Re: 1973/74 Brockway N361T in upcoming Alabama auction

With all the "Hype" about Huskydrive..............,It was just a plain vanilla 2 speed axle! In my Eaton literature................catalogs for parts and service, etc. , I found a catalog sheet fpr Model 20220 2 speed showing available ratios of 3.70/5.04 and of course, 4.11/5.60----------...
