The Dream is Taking Shape
Since our Brockway Truck Show in 2004, the truck show committee has been incorporated into the Brockway Truck Show, Inc., a non-profit organization that manages the Brockway Truck Show in downtown Cortland. This show has been a great success by all possible standards. For quite some time this committee had been dreaming about the possibility of creating a Brockway museum. A place where Brockways could be on display all year round along with the wealth of memorabilia and history of the manufacture, selling, service and use of the trucks.
These photos, taken in early 2007 show the interior of the Museum site as the walls, ceiling and floors are stripped away, returning to a shell of a building. This shell will be the foundation of the museum with new systems and interior layouts. There will be public rooms, private rooms, offices and of course displays.
There will be Brockway trucks, Fire trucks, farm tractors and even military vehicles on site. What you see here is the beginning of a new chapter in the Brockway truck history books.
The Homer-Cortland Community Agency, Inc. that is run by a fifteen member board consisting of four members from the Brockway Truck Preservation Association, four members from the Homeville Museum, four exhibitors (including Tractors of Yesteryear, a clock collection, and an antique fire truck collection), and three members from the community at large.
The Homer-Cortland Community Agency, Inc. has procured the property to house these various collections. The requirements will be an area that is temperature controlled for the smaller and more fragile items as well as an area large enough to house a rotating selection of Brockway trucks, the antique fire trucks and tractors, as well as clocks and other possible rotating exhibits.
